Definitions:

ARCA:  Alberta Roofing Contractors Association – An association of roof contractors exclusive to Alberta, whose members meet strict guidelines for safety, training and continued membership.  Only ARCA Contractors are eligible to offer the ARCA Warranty Certificate.

ARCA Warranty Ltd:  A company providing roofing warranties for new and re-roofing of buildings.  The Warranty Certificate is provided based on the achievement of certain criteria, use of an approved roof system, and reviewed by an Accepted Inspector.

ARCA Roof Inspection – refers to a trained Observer (an ARCA Accepted Inspector) reviewing the work the Contractor is performing on the roof, to record and report on the installation.

ARCA Roof Inspector:  An individual with specific training and certification by the ARCA Warranty Ltd. as an Accepted Inspector, to review and report on the installation of roofs for the purpose of compliance with the specific ARCA Warranty Ltd. Approved roof systems.

Contract:  An agreement to perform work for a set amount within an agreed timeline.

RCI Inc.:  An international institute of roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope professionals specializing in the training and certification of , and continuing education for the building envelope industry.

Roof Assessment – refers to a trained Observer reviewing a roof that has been completed and is in service.  The purpose can range from a visual Condition assessment to provide recommendations and budgetary costing, to extensive Loss investigation and forensic evaluation reporting for litigation purposes.

Roof Contractor:  A company specializing in the installation and repair of roof systems, having certified journeymen workers trained to conduct the work.

Roof Consultant:  An individual with specialized training and credentials to provide services pertaining to the evaluation, assessment, and design of roof systems in addition to the review and reporting for roof installation.
