About Petra:
Petra Contract Services Ltd. was incorporated in 2014 to provide a personal level of roof consulting services to clients in the Calgary and Southern Alberta area, which is not always obtainable from large multi-disciplinary firms.
This has been, and continues to be accomplished by maintaining consistency in the principles and practices of accuracy in building data collection, assessment, and provision of recommendations in line with Codes, Standards, and Client requirements.
Petra is not affiliated with any product manufacturer, distributor, or contractor. This separation allows consulting services to be provided free of partiality or bias.
Petra's industry affiliations include the ARCA Warranty Ltd. Accepted Inspectors, IIBEC (Formerly RCI Inc.) - the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants, CSC (Construction Specifications Canada), ASTM - the American Society for Testing and Materials, and ABEC - the Alberta Building Envelope Council. Wherever feasible, Petra will engage the services of accredited individuals such as Registered Roof Observers and ARCA Accepted Inspectors to assist in maintaining consistency in the observation and reporting required on projects.
Whether the project parameters involve a multiple facility roof replacement, a forensic loss investigation, dispute resolution, pre-purchase or due diligence assessment, or complex repairs or building modifications - Petra consistently prepares, manages, and administers Contracts valued in the millions of dollars each year.
Services also extend to Architects and Engineers, Contractors, insurance organizations, manufacturers, and other Consultants in the capacities of assessment, design review and assistance, quality assurance observation reporting, expert witness testimony and litigation support, and leak investigations.
BIO - Jon Peat, RRC, RRO
Background
Jon Peat, RRC, RRO, has been involved with the roofing and building industry in various capacities since before he entered high school. His experience developed from steep slope roofing to commercial low slope roof installation progressing to foreman then a supervisory position.
In 2000, Mr. Peat entered the world of roof consulting and started a position with Fishburn Building Sciences Group Inc. His experience as a former contractor was extremely valuable in several aspects of roof observation and design of new roof systems. Forensic evaluation and investigation of roofing issues has been paramount in his advancement in the roof consulting profession and in 2002 he earned the professional designation of a Registered Roof Observer by RCI Inc., - at that time certified in Built Up Roofing (BUR) and Modified Bitumen roofing, Single ply roofing, Asphalt shingles, Cedar shakes and shingles, Metal roofing, and Sprayed Polyurethane Foam roofing. In 2007 Mr. Peat earned the professional designation of Registered Roof Consultant and has maintained both designations current through annual continuing education requirements to the present day.
Through RCI Inc. and other industry organizations, Mr. Peat regularly engages in speaking presentations and is a course instructor providing training for other consultants.
Having been involved with numerous litigation and mediation projects, Mr. Peat has provided Expert Witness testimony for the Court of Queens Bench of Alberta and the Superior Court of Ontario.
